Which clown puzzle?

Players use “clown puzzle” for two connected clown interactions: the black-and-white doodle or mime route, and the Whack-a-Mole identification puzzle. Finish the movement section first, then use the movie-seat clue for the color targets.

This is separate from the Red Jester and Pierrot chain in Misery Town, even though both use circus imagery.

Black-and-white route

Follow the monochrome room's movement logic and observe how the doodle or mime figure responds. The purpose of this section is to advance the connected clown sequence, not to guess the later colors from the moving figures alone.

If the next interaction does not unlock, retrace the route and confirm each required movement or room transition registered before leaving.

Movie-seat clue

The later Whack-a-Mole task asks you to identify the clowns who died. The clue comes from the movie seating scene. Record the colors associated with the relevant clowns rather than hitting every target indiscriminately.

The verified target colors are:

• Red
• Yellow
• Pink
• Purple

Whack-a-Mole sequence

Strike the Red, Yellow, Pink, and Purple clown targets. Continue hitting the correct colors until their targets become gravestones. A single hit on each color is not necessarily the completion signal.

Avoid spending cycles on unrelated colors. If the state appears stuck, compare the clue colors and check that each correct target reached its gravestone state. Viewing the movie itself has not been established as a mandatory unlock trigger.

Reward and later use

Completing the connected sequence awards the Scalpel. Keep it. Later in the Misery Town route, the Scalpel creates the rope-cutting alternative during the Trapezist performance.

That later use is also recognized by Steam's achievement structure, which is why this optional-looking circus puzzle can matter to an efficient completion route.
