Regional encounters

The three regional routes here lead to The AI, Trapezist and The Chameleon. This is a route directory, not an official exhaustive boss classification. Steam achievement descriptions corroborate their named outcomes.

Trapezist

The Trapezist closes the major Misery Town performance chain. You can proceed into the conventional fight or use the Chapter 1 Scalpel to cut the rope and take the alternate route.

Steam achievements Fatal Performance and Cut The Act support the two-outcome structure. See the Trapezist guide for the plushie, Jester, microphone, crowd, and performance prerequisites.

The Chameleon

The Chameleon encounter grows from a Timesville nighttime pursuit and use of the camera. The fight outcome is associated with No Strings Attached, while Case Closed confirms an avoid route.

Use the Chameleon guide to separate chase timing from the final outcome. Simply leaving one chase frame should not be treated as a verified pacifist completion.

The AI and later encounters

The Office route contains the AI encounter. Steam's System Override achievement provides an official outcome label. For its surrounding prerequisites, follow the area walkthrough.

Names such as Clockey and RODGER occur in wider community descriptions, but that alone does not establish that both belong to a fixed list of five required main bosses. We do not use that unsupported count here.

Minor and secret encounters

The Fandom index also lists Matchboxer, Tuna, Danu, Nove, Yew, The Mug, Chimeramanticore, Benjamin, and other minor or hidden encounters. A name in the index does not automatically mean the fight is required.

For optional fights, check three things before committing:

  1. Whether the room is part of the main route or a secret area.
  2. Whether the encounter can be avoided or delayed.
  3. Whether a Steam achievement recognizes a particular outcome.

General combat approach

  • Observe a full attack cycle before using a damage window.
  • Treat unusual items or environmental actions as possible alternatives to direct combat.
  • Keep saves before encounters with paired outcome achievements.
  • Use no-damage videos for animation timing, not as the only source for route prerequisites.
  • Return to the chapter walkthrough when a boss room is unavailable; the missing step is often outside the arena.
